Wedding Trends for 2021
Wedding season is usually a busy and exciting time here at Rio Lounge. Assisting couples to choose wedding sofa hire and accessories is always such a buzz; helping them to realise their vision of a dream wedding reception.
2020 threw us a curveball to say the least, as the Covid-19 pandemic meant that the majority of weddings were postponed or cancelled. We really felt for couples affected by this; we know that so much work and planning goes into creating the most magical day of your life!
However, with news of vaccine roll-outs looking promising, we are confident that 2021 is set to be a fantastic year for weddings. Many couples who were forced to postpone in 2020 will hopefully get to tie the knot next year. Even better if social distancing can also be reduced or eliminated too, and gathering numbers can once more be increased!
So, we thought now would be a great time to check out the wedding trends predicted to be a hit in 2021:
1. Small, intimate weddings
The rules on guest numbers have changed several times this year, which makes life rather difficult for couples trying to plan weddings for 2021. Guest numbers have been restricted to just 30 for the past few months, and this could remain the case for a while yet. No great surprise then that there was a large increase in couples searching on Google for “small wedding” this summer. It’s only natural that couples will remain prudent for the time being; keeping their guest lists short to limit the risk of having to cancel or postpone their weddings next year.
2. Garden weddings (ideal for outdoor wedding sofa hire!)
Scientists tell us that Covid is far less likely to spread outdoors; so it’s not surprising that more couples are searching for garden wedding inspiration. Whether couples are planning to get hitched in their own back gardens or another outdoor space, the garden wedding is set to be a hot trend for 2021! Luckily, at Rio Lounge, outdoor furniture hire is our speciality. Our hard-wearing yet elegant rattan sofas and bistro furniture pieces look perfect out on a lawn or in a marquee. Rest assured that they can withstand all weathers, in case the British weather doesn’t play ball!
3.Winter wonderland weddings
With most summer 2020 weddings cancelled, there will therefore be a very high demand for wedding venues next year. Therefore the summer dates will get booked up extremely quickly; it’s likely couples will have to consider winter dates instead. Google searches for winter wonderland weddings have increased by 84% this year, according to a survey by Ramsdens Jewellery.
White furniture hire is our best-seller at Rio Lounge, which can look stunning at a Winter Wonderland wedding. Why not take a look at this case study of this gorgeous Christmas-time marquee wedding we furnished with our immaculate white faux leather sofas and sparkling mirror cubes.
4. Destination weddings taking a backseat….
Overseas travel has also been hit hard by Covid, with many people choosing a ‘staycation’ instead of a foreign holiday this year. With travel severely limited, it makes total sense that far fewer couples are are choosing destination weddings for 2021. While it’s still unclear what sort of restrictions will be in place for next year, most couples are choosing to play it safe and book a wedding closer to home. However, if you still want that high-end beach club vibe on UK soil, look no further than our luxury furniture hire; our selection of daybeds in particular will bring the Miami sunshine right to your back garden!
Will we see a wedding boom in 2021?
Clearly, there are no guarantees where the pandemic is concerned, but it does seem that many couples are still going ahead and planning their weddings for 2021. So next year could be a boom year!
