The return of small weddings; transforming a back garden into a venue

wedding furniture hire: garden wedding

After the glorious spring we enjoyed during lockdown, so far July has not been quite so kind weather-wise.  However, don’t despair: the good news is that more sunshine is on the way. Although the majority of large events have been cancelled or postponed due to Covid, we are pleased to say that we’ve recently seen a flurry of enquiries for smaller outdoor events.  The ‘socially distanced’ garden party has been the top event choice for summer 2020; it’s been great to see how creative our clients have been, hosting their celebrations in the most challenging circumstances. Better still, recent Government announcements have meant that weddings (with limited guest numbers) are slowly making a return.  In this feature, we take a look at some ideas for small outdoor-based summer weddings. We show you some reasons why hosting a garden wedding is a great choice; and of course how to transform a back garden into a wedding reception venue with some stylish wedding furniture hire.

Weddings make a return…for up to 30 guests

Smaller weddings are growing in popularity, not just because of the pandemic, but because many couples prefer to share their special day with just a few close family and friends. Just because you have reduced guest numbers, doesn’t mean you have to have less of a celebration.  In fact, you can focus more on creating a truly personal and unforgettable day for you and your guests.

Furniture hire for garden wedding receptions

Wedding furniture hire

Rio Lounge’s range of furniture hire for weddings can help transform an ordinary back garden into something truly fabulous. Our curved rattan Bulgari sofa, pictured here in white, is a popular choice for outdoor weddings and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture: its elegant curved lines are perfect for creating a sociable chill-out zone. In addition, its modular design means that you can separate the four sections, should you need to create a socially distanced seating area.

Colour themes

Have a specific colour theme in mind? No problem; our range of scatter cushions are available in a range of pastels, brights and metallics, so you can accessorise any of our sofa ranges, mixing and matching to your heart’s content.

Worried about the weather? Hiring a small marquee or gazebo can be a good solution; most marquee hire companies have a good selection of sizes to fit your outdoor space.  We also have elegant silver patio heaters for hire, to keep your guests warm when evening temperatures drop. And don’t forget all of our outdoor furniture is made of tough hard-wearing rattan which can withstand a shower or two.

Other reasons to choose a garden wedding reception

There are plenty of good reasons to choose a small outdoor or garden wedding reception.  Here are our top three:

1. Cost

You’ll be saving all the money you would have spent on hiring a reception venue. So, this might allow you more budget for gorgeous decor, a fabulous designer dress, some high-end catering, or whatever your priorities may be.

2. You can spend more individual time with loved ones

Most people find that their wedding day flies by in a flash and they barely had time to speak to all of their guests. By keeping your wedding small, you won’t have to spread your time so thinly and can spend more quality time with each guest.

3. Less stress!

There’s no doubt that fewer guests means stress levels tend to be lower. Also, being in familiar surroundings makes for a more relaxed, calm ambience.
