Our top 5 tips for styling a gorgeous Autumn wedding

Weddings are no longer just for summer. There’s something wonderful and whimsical about the idea of tying the knot surrounded by trees with beautiful burnished leaves; the natural hazy golden light of the Autumn months streaming through. Just imagine hosting the reception in a cosy venue with a crackling log fire, or in a marquee lit with pretty lanterns. For these reasons and many more, increasing numbers of our wedding furniture hire clients are choosing to marry in Autumn.
However, with unreliable weather, dropping temperatures and fading daylight, planning is key for an autumn wedding. So, from perfecting warm autumnal colour schemes, to ensuring your guests don’t freeze, here are our top 5 tips to ensure your special day is unforgettable for all the right reasons!
1. Rich autumnal colour schemes
Hosting your wedding in autumn means you can explore a whole different colour palette. Rich berry shades, burgundies, gold, mocha, copper, as well as the more obvious yellow and orange will all look amazing. Our outdoor sofa hire ranges, in neutral black or white rattan can be accessorised any way you like simply by adding some of our scatter cushions. We have a huge range of hues and designs available, so you’re sure to find something to co-ordinate with your chosen colour scheme.
2. It’s all in the detail
Choosing the right accessories can really make a difference. Autumn is such a beautiful month in nature, so you could explore ideas such as dried flower bouquets and buttonholes, garlands of twigs, berries and autumn leaves, or pumpkin table decorations. You could even gather conkers and challenge your guests to the traditional autumn game! Or why not forage for acorns, pine cones or even toadstools – and place them in glass bowls as an alternative to the traditional floral centrepiece. You can really get creative!
3. Romantic lighting
Autumn daylight is so gorgeous, but what happens when day fades to evening? You’ll want create a cosy romantic glow with the help of some soft lighting. Draping strings of pretty fairy lights around your venue can look lovely, but what could be more beautiful than flickering candlelight? Check out our range of lanterns for hire; they look amazing whether they’re lighting the path to your venue or simply placed in clusters around a marquee. Thanks to Sophie Amor for this wonderful picture of our lanterns.
4.Wedding furniture hire – outdoor areas are not just for summer!
Creating an outdoor chill-out zone may not be the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of an autumn wedding. However, with a little smart planning, it can work really well. If you’ve chosen a marquee for your reception, you could place groups of chill-out sofas just outside the entrance. Guests will love it even more if you add a fire pit, so they can keep nice and warm whilst congregating outside for a break or a chat. And don’t forget, there are always a handful of smokers at every event who will appreciate being catered for! Having a plan B to move the sofas indoors in case of heavy rain is no problem, as our outdoor rattan chill-out furniture looks just as good inside as outside!
5. Keep warm!
When temperatures are less than toasty, you’ll want to consider how to ward off the chill. Let’s face it, even on a sunny autumn day, it can quickly get cold when the sun goes down. As well as an outdoor fire pit, why not take a look at our Athena Patio Heater hire. Suitable for use outdoors or inside a marquee, these stylish silver heaters not only provide warmth, but they also look fabulous too! We love this picture of wedding evening guests keeping cosy sitting on our elegant curved ‘Bulgari’ rattan sofa flanked by two patio heaters. Also featured are our cube shaped Club Ottomans. Pictured here in white, these handy cube seats are also available in a range of colours, including red, orange and yellow so could easily be used to tie in with an autumnal colour scheme.
