Things to consider when booking UK furniture hire with Rio Lounge
Things really do seem to be looking up! Further Covid restrictions will be eased from next Monday 17th May, as stage 3 of the Government ‘roadmap’ comes into play. As a leading supplier of UK furniture hire for events, we have certainly seen a marked upturn in enquiries and quote requests, and are therefore tentatively anticipating a busy summer season for 2021.
So, with this in mind, we decided to take a look at what you should expect, when you make a booking with Rio Lounge. What sort of questions will we ask, to help ensure that you book the right quantity and style of furniture for your event? Being armed with this key information to hand in advance will help make your booking experience with us as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
‘How many people will be attending your event?’
This is a very important question! If you have a rough idea of guest numbers, this will help us to calculate how much seating you require. We usually suggest seating a minimum of one third of your total guests at any one time. However, you may wish to increase this to half your total guests depending on both your venue size and your budget. Bear in mind that our key pieces such as our Marrakesh and Bulgari sofa sets will seat between 6-8 people each.
‘How old are the guests? Or are there a mixture of ages?’
Having an idea of guest ages may give more indication of how many guests need to be seated at any one time (though that isn’t always the case!). Also, bear in mind that an older crowd will generally prefer slightly higher level seating. In terms of sofas, why not take a look at our curved Bulgari sofa sets, which have a little more seat height than our low level Marrakesh.
‘Will the furniture hire be indoors, outdoors, or a mixture of both?’
This will help to determine what type of furniture would suit your event best. For example, if you’re hosting an outdoor event then you will probably need to look at our rattan furniture hire. This is hard-wearing and weather proof and can be left outside no matter what the forecast brings. Rattan furniture also looks great indoors, but then in addition, you also have the option of selecting pieces from our cool faux leather ranges, such as our white Club Sofas , to add variety.
‘Are you using a marquee, and if so what type and size?’

‘Will the guests be served food?’
And if so, will it be a formal sit-down meal, or a casual buffet/ canapés etc? Whilst we don’t offer formal dining tables at Rio Lounge, we do offer rattan bistro sets: our ‘South Beach’ range, which co-ordinate beautifully with our rattan sofa styles. Alternatively, for an event where no sit-down dining is required, why not consider placing some poseur tables, with or without bar stools. These are perfect for perching and mingling with drinks and canapés.
‘Do you have a colour scheme in mind?’
If you’re hosting an Ibiza themed event, chances are you’ll be keeping everything white. However, if you do have a colour palette in mind, that’s no problem at all! ‘What size and style is your garden?’
Hosting an outdoor event in your own garden at home? Then we will always ask about garden dimensions; (as well as some other finer details), to make sure your furniture choices actually fit! Examples of other relevant questions might be: what is the access like? Are there a lot of steps? Will our crew have to negotiate any narrow passageways? Will furniture have to be walked through the house to reach the garden? If so, are doorways wide enough? These factors are particularly important when hiring our larger items, such as our four poster Antibes Daybeds.
Money talks: ‘ …what’s your budget?’
Having at least an approximate idea of how much you’d like to spend on event furniture hire will be really helpful in determining the best mix of items to hire for your event.
Your address and proof of ID?
Obviously we won’t be able to deliver your order unless we have this vital piece of info! Always be prepared to show formal proof of address and identity (or proof of venue hire, if applicable), otherwise your booking may be declined.
