Party furniture hire for sunny days: reminiscing in the lockdown sunshine!

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the UK has now been in lockdown for just over a month, with a minimum of another two weeks to go. With much uncertainty over when social gatherings will be permitted again, and the ‘stay home’ message still very much in force, the Rio Lounge office team continue to operate remotely. This time of year would usually be the start of our busy events season and it’s fair to say we are all missing that buzz right now! Of course, under normal circumstances, our garden party furniture hire would start to fly out of the warehouse. Sadly that’s not possible right now.  So, instead we look back and reflect, taking a closer look at just a few of our most iconic outdoor furniture products, pictured at past events.

It’s just as well that the weather has been gorgeous and April showers have stayed away.  We’ve seen the UK experience the warmest, driest April in 300 years, the sunshine has really lifted our mood; spending time outdoors in our gardens or just walking in the park surrounded by birdsong and blue skies. Temperatures reached a sizzling 27 degrees in some parts of the country! With nights gradually getting lighter, it’s been possible to enjoy sunshine until 8.30pm on some evenings.  Even better if you’re lucky enough to have some beautiful outdoor furniture and a  patio heater or two – stay outside as late as you like!

Our local hero Captain Tom walks for the NHS

While we are on the subject of enjoying the great outdoors, it has been wonderful to see WWII veteran Captain Tom Moore walking in his garden to raise millions for NHS charities. With an initial goal of raising £1000, he decided to walk 100 laps of his garden just prior to his 100th birthday. Thanks to the powers of social media, his story spread quickly, capturing the hearts of the nation, and the rest is history!  At the time of writing, his total fundraising stands at £28.5m, but is rising every minute.

Born in Yorkshire, Captain Tom now lives in Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire, and is therefore very local to us. The Rio Lounge furniture hire team would like to wish him a very happy 100th birthday for next week, and to congratulate him on his admirable efforts.
