Furniture trends for 2022

furniture trends 2022

When we have a quiet moment in the office, we love leafing through home and interior design magazines, checking out the hottest trends. As furniture hire experts, it’s important that we have knowledge of the latest looks; this enables us to advise our customers on ways to use our furniture to create an event that looks totally on point! So, with the help of some of the UK’s top interior designers, we present our top five favourite furniture trends for 2022:

1. Curved furnishings

curved rattan sofa hireCurved furniture design is a trend that has been around for a while but shows no sign of declining in popularity.  No wonder our beautiful rattan Bulgari sofa sets are so sought after! As with most of our sofa styles, the Bulgari is modular, so you can arrange it in a classic semicircle, or split the sections for a different look.

2. Bringing the indoors outside  (and the outdoors in!)

Using some of our fabulous outdoor sofas as a key focal point, it’s easy to build your outdoor living area. Accessorise with some co-ordinating bistro dining furniture and daybeds, (plus some ambient lantern lighting) and you’ll be well on your way. The good news is, our outdoor hire furniture looks just as good indoors as it does outdoors too. Let’s face it: in the UK we are not always blessed with great weather, so there may be times when you need to take everything undercover!

3. Sustainability

sustainable furniture hireSustainability is not only a furniture trend, but something that we are passionate about at Rio Lounge.  This is exactly why all of our hire stock is the very highest quality furniture.  This means that with careful and thorough ongoing cleaning and maintenance, our furniture can give many years of service.  Result: less wastage and fewer items ending up in landfill, which can only be a good thing for the environment.  For example, all of our rattan furniture is hand woven in the Far East in ethical factories inspected by our director in person, which ensure a fair wage and good working conditions for their employees. Our rattan sofas also contain aluminium frames; cheaper steel frames are far heavier and can corrode more easily, meaning that they don’t last as long. So when you hire furniture from Rio Lounge, your environmental conscience can be totally clear!

4. Visual connections with nature

Incorporate these into your event and you are sure to create something to remember for all the right reasons. Check out the use of bold zebra print alongside our curved Bulgari sofa in the main picture accompanying this feature; incorporating two key trends in one.

5. Pantone Colour of the Year

Pantone colour of the year furniture trendYou may have read our blog last month on 2022’s Pantone Colour of the Year. If not, why not head over there and have a read! This year’s colour is ‘Veri Peri’; a cool modern take on lilac. Adding some colour accents in this shade such as scatter cushions is an easy and inexpensive way to bring your event bang up to date.
