Events furniture – What’s in store for the new year?

To say it isn’t the normal start to a new year is rather an understatement in 2021. In previous years, we’d be using the quieter winter months to prepare for the busy season ahead. That would usually mean talking to our regular clients; booking events furniture for all the annual festivals, sporting fixtures, conferences, and many other regular large scale events.  The warehouse team would be checking our inventory of hire sofas, and other products; replacing and maintaining items where needed. In short, we would be generally ensuring the team were ready for the packed Spring and Summer schedule.

Uncertainty in the events furniture hire industry

But due to the Covid pandemic, there’s still so much uncertainty for the events industry. No-one can be sure when the Government will relax the rules on  the hosting of large scale events again. Only this week it has been announced that Glastonbury Festival will be cancelled for the second year in a row. It remains to be seen whether others will follow suit. Similarly, it’s hard to tell when sporting fixtures with full scale crowds, exhibitions and even weddings can return to something resembling normality. The main problem is that due to so much uncertainty, it’s difficult to plan events.

However, we remain positive in our outlook. Things change so quickly, so it’s really important that the Rio Lounge team is ready to hit the ground running whenever the lockdown rules are relaxed.

Looking back at furniture hire for past events

When we look back at events that were running this time last year, it’s hard to imagine what was just around the corner. For example, this event pictured in this feature was a large corporate conference.  Hundreds of guests flew in from all corners of the globe, and we provided the conference seating.  To create this relaxed seating style, we used products from our cool white faux leather range; tub-shaped Casa Armchairs, together with some Ana Mandara Sofa Modules and Club Lounge Sofas.  Accessorising with our scatter cushions in bright shades gave the white hire furniture some eye-catching pops of colour.
