Creating a Spooktacular Halloween Party
As the days are getting shorter and there’s a definite chill in the air, most party planners thoughts turn to the next big event in the celebration season – Halloween and how they’re going to create the ultimate spooktacular Halloween Party with event prop hire.
This Autumnal celebration has always been enjoyed in America and over the last few years Halloween has really taken off in the UK too. It’s the perfect time of year to have a party as everyone feels the need for something cheery when the cold starts to bite. Types of Halloween party are as varied as the people hosting them. You can hire some funky furniture, go all out ghoulish with green slime, fancy dress and trick or treating or you can have a sophisticated take on the season with beautifully carved pumpkins, stunning white candles and fairy lights.
So what makes a great Halloween Party? – Here are our suggestions for a fiendishly fabulous night:
Set the Scene with music
Music is a fantastic way to create an atmosphere at a party and it’s a real must at Halloween. You can buy ready made Halloween albums with spooky noises and rattling chains but it’s also great fun to make your own mix on your iPod. Songs like The Monster Mash always go down well at parties with children attending and can be a great laugh. Or you could just use some chill-out music such as the eerily brilliant Mogwai album from zombie series The Returned.
Food and Drink
Halloween is definitely a time for eating and drinking and you can get some fabulous food ideas from searching sites such as Pinterest. Pumpkin soup is always a favourite warming dish on a cold October’s evening – you could serve it in a carved out pumpkin head or a black cauldron with some chunky French bread.
For the more creative and inventive cooks, all sorts of horrors can be conjured up from you kitchen cupboard. Peeled grapes can become eyeballs, and sticks of mozzarella cheese with a tomato dip become ghostly fingers. Halloween can be a great excuse for some garish cocktails too. Use blue and green food colourings to turn drinks into potions. You can even buy dry ice which gives a fantastically professionally look to the Halloween table.
If you love fancy dress then Halloween is definitely the place to get into the spirit of things. You could give your guest free rein over what they dress up as and enjoy their creativity with the costumes, or you could give guests a theme to work with. How about early horror film characters, Scooby Doo villains or zombies? Alternatively you could go for monochromatic style and simply ask everyone to wear black or red.
Setting The Scene
Of course a party wouldn’t be a party without some fabulous Rio Lounge furniture and we can definitely provide some atmosphere creating accessories. Set the scene for your party with our glowing silver lanterns to create a candle lit path leading up to your venue. People may still want to be outside even though the evenings are colder so make sure that your guests are kept nice and warm by hiring some of our our patio heaters. Not only will they make sure that everyone is toasty but they look stunning too. If you need seating our Marrakesh beach sets are always a popular touch and you can accessorize with our cushions – available in ghoulish green, bloodthirsty red or sophisticated black!
