How To Use The Pantone Colours Of The Year At Your Event

If you are involved in the wedding or events world – whether as an event designer, wedding planner or a bride it’s always pretty exciting to find out what the newest Pantone Colour of the Year is. Pantone are an American company who are considered to be the world authority on colour tones and colour matching. They work on developing a range of colours used by fashion designers, interior designers and of course wedding stylists!

Every year they create a new colour of the year which often becomes a trending colour inspiring wedding dresses, flowers and party themes. The colour is chosen to reflect the zeitgeist of the year so it’s really interesting to see that in 2016 they have moved away from the deep, dark scarlet of last year’s Marsala to the lighter more ethereal colours of Rose Quartz (a blush pink) and Serenity (which is a soft baby blue). These pastel colours are sure to be really popular on the wedding scene and we can see them working really well at popular summer events too as they have a gorgeously nostalgic vintage feel to them.

So here’s our guide to how you can incorporate the 2016 Pantone Colours of the Year into your event…

Create soft accent colours

If you feel that using just one colour can be too overwhelming then instead use furniture accessories to provide an accent of colour at your event. You could hire white sofas such as our popular Marrakesh sofa set and team them with our blush pink and baby blue scatter cushions to create a stunning seating area with a warm and welcoming feel to it. Or why not use our sumptuous giant silver champagne bowls and fill them with scented flowers such as pink roses and blue lavender to add a touch of colour to your event.

Chose a nostalgic event theme

We think these colours hark back to a softer era and would work brilliantly at an event with a nostalgic or vintage theme. They would look stunning at a summer event where you could string coloured bunting through the trees and hire an old fashioned pink ice cream van to serve refreshing ices to your guests. Then just add in some of our traditional striped deckchairs for the finishing vintage touch! Or why not travel back further in time for a romantic Parisian feel? We think that the pastel colours look lovely with our beautiful white Casa armchair and you could team them with our stunning Rio Chandelier to create a centrepiece that will really get your guests talking.

We really love the Rose Quartz and Serenity tones that have been chosen for 2016 and we can’t wait to work with our customers to help them include them in their event styling. We think that they are versatile and work well with a range of other colours such as dove grey and ice white. We’re looking forward to seeing how these colours are incorporated into the event world and we’ll keep you updated on the latest styling news!
