It’s that time of year again when the nights draw in, the Christmas music in the shops starts up and at work you start to think about the big event – the office Christmas party! The office party is a great way to get your team together, let down your hair (after working so hard all year) and have fun. But, if you have been tasked with organising this vital event it can also be a pretty stressful time as you can feel under pressure to get everything right!
As expert event stylists Rio Lounge are here to help make sure that your event looks amazing. We’ve had plenty of experience with lots of different office Christmas parties and here are our top tips for making your company ‘do’ a success.
Find a great venue
Make sure you choose a great venue for your event. Ideally choose one that is based near your office, and if it is in a hotel or near one then even better as weary revellers can sleep on site rather than trying to wend their way home once the party is over. If you live in a city there are usually no end of unusual venues from galleries and museums to boat parties and aquariums. If your company is based in a more rural location why not try a local barn or stately home. Why not choose your top three venues and get your office to vote on the final choice so that everyone has a say in where you go.
Set a theme
A theme can really bring a party together and can unify all the different elements. At Rio Lounge we are experts on styling a venue to fit in with your party theme. Whether you are planning an uber cool urban chill out lounge, an Ibiza themed beach party or a festival theme with a vintage feel we have the furniture and accessories to make your dream come alive. Our stunning ice white sofa sets and contemporary bar tables and stools allow us to create a convivial atmosphere in any venue. And it doesn’t matter if your company is big or small – we can provide the seating and furniture you need. Why not accessorise your venue with your corporate colours too – out gorgeous scatter cushions and opulent ottomans come in a range of colours to add that unique touch to your office party.
Plan some icebreakers
If you work for a large company it can be a good idea to plan a few fun icebreakers to encourage your team to get to know each other and bring a sense of fun to your office party. At each table as guests sit down for dinner you could ask them to write down one fascinating fact about themselves – then everyone on the table has to guess who wrote it. Or you could hire someone to get everyone up and dancing together with a Ceilidh – great fun and brilliant for teamwork too!
Give the gift of thanks
Finally it can be worth investing in some high quality corporate gifts or goody bags to send people home with at the end of the night. This is a great way to say thanks for their work and will make sure that people really appreciate the company they work for!
