At Rio Lounge we are very used to taking our gorgeous furniture and light up letters to a number of extremely glamorous locations, stunning hotels and stately homes. So, it made a real change for us this morning when we were up bright and early on a rather rainy morning to take our letters to be used at a jam factory in Manchester!
So why were we in this unlikely setting? Well early last week we had a call from a journalist at the BBC who felt that our letters would make a brilliant backdrop to a broadcast that they were planning to go out with on BBC Breakfast. The broadcast was all about pay and they wanted the word PAY in large light up letters to be placed in the background whilst they talked about the issues involved.
Of course we were thrilled to be asked to provide our letters to such a prestigious organisation, and even the thought of a very early 5am start didn’t put us off. Our intrepid delivery driver Allan stayed up in Manchester overnight so that we could assure the BBC that our letters would be there ready and waiting for set up. As the news broadcast was at a fully functioning jam making factory Allan also had to make sure that he was wearing overshoes and a hairnet too!
The letters looked great when they were set up and we think that they really made an impact on the broadcast which we were very excited to watch. As work had to resume at the factory as soon as the broadcast was over Allan stayed at the factory during the filming to ensure that we could whisk our letters away as soon as it was finished and that production could carry on as normal.
We really enjoyed working with the BBC and it just goes to show how many uses there are for our light up letters. Although they are really popular for weddings and engagement parties, more and more corporate companies are using them too. As well as providing letters for the BBC this year we have also provided letters for organisations such as Whipsnade Zoo and for a PR photo shoot for Kelly Brook. Our letters provide a fantastic focus for a corporate event and we can create any word or combinations of words that you need.
Seeing our light up letters on the BBC was a real highlight of the year for us and we hope that all the viewers loved them too. We were also very proud of the fact that we were able to deliver the letters at short notice – and we were happy to go the extra mile to make sure that the letters were there in time. It’s a fantastic feeling to make our customers happy and we were thrilled to get the following feedback from the journalist that we were working with “Please thank Allan for his help this morning. It all went very well. And many thanks for your help’.
